Indian Spice Trail II

Indian Spice Trail is a journey of Indian spices through my lens.

I mentioned in my Spice Trail-I, why and how I started this journey. This month, Meeta has joined us we have decided to shoot three spices, which are commonly used in Indian Cooking – Star Anise, Cloves and Cinnamon.

Don’t forget to participate in the spice giveaway by Simi and check out Deeba’s Masala Dubba #1 (2nd link will be updated once she posts this month).

Star Anise:

Star anise is used in rice (biryani especially), meat based dishes, masala chai and Garam Masala. It helps to combat cough, bronchitis, flu, digestive tract problem, respiratory tract problem and so many other medical problems.

Cloves:

I just love the aroma of cloves and which is why they are used in most of my dishes and tea. I don’t buy ground cloves because I like them freshly grounded. It’s an amazing anti inflammatory medicine which I use them for minor tooth aches (given by mom since childhood).

Cinnamon:

Cinnamon is not only used in my curries, but also in my desserts. I love adding cinnamon in  my hot drinks, cake and what not. It can reduce blood sugar level, reduce heart disease risk factors, and has a so many of other impressive health benefits.
