Very few girls are lucky to have a Valentine wedding but I did. It was a small wedding with just M and me in front of a Justice of the Peace. We wanted this wedding to be just ours and celebrate it in a unique and personal way. We had a social wedding in India in front of 376 people (yes, I said 376) and followed all of the customs and rituals, but we will always consider February 14th as our ‘anniversary’.
I am not the kind of food blogger who cooks for the blog. I am the kind who blogs what she cook. This is why I did not have a Valentines post last week with sweets. I am not saying that its a bad thing to blog about dessert. In fact, I truly appreciate and respect those who bake desserts.
I am a senior web developer at the office and have a lot of work during weekdays. On 14th Feb, after waking up we decided to bake these spicy savory cookies. It’s our anniversary so my husband banned me from cooking and cleaning (which is what I do typically on Saturday) and embargoed my Facebook news feed. After that, we watched ‘Immortal Beloved’ from iTunes. What a great movie!! In the evening, we dined out in a very old restaurant named ‘The Marliave’. This restaurant was featured in Savior as one of the best in Boston.
Our love is not the sweet, pink or cute type. I am an Indian Hindu, and my husband is a New York Jew. I love eating Knish, Latkes, and he loves Spicy Indian food. He loves Java coding, and I love photography. We are not party people. We love to spend our Friday evenings having a romantic dinner followed by a movie or a couple of our favorite television programs. No matter how busy we are, we will never skip our date nights. Who says you can’t date your spouse after marriage?
First, I thought of making chocolate truffles for him but later I changed my mind after remembering how much M loves spicy and savory recipes. This year, after browsing through a dozen of recipes, I decided to make Simi’s savory cookies. It is hot and spicy, just like our love.
Original recipe is adapted from Turmeric n’ Spice. Click here for the link. I have changed it a bit based on our preferences.
